With a simple reprogramming of the ECU, you can add as much as 100 hp on some models. Being optimistic, I bought a new 19x13.25 prop which I put on for testing it out. Hydro Tec has the ability to boost the performance and fuel economy of your Yamaha SHO. Max rpm was about 5300 which according to the manual puts you near the top of the power curve for that engine (max engine rpm is 5750). Prior to the conversion i ran a 17x13.25 Quicksilver prop. While waiting for its return, I had the air restricter removed which is a necessary requirement in flashing the unit from 75 to 115. It replaces the intake air temp sensor, fooling the ecm into thinking you have cooler, therefore, denser air, the ecm adjusts the fuel mixture accordingly, supposedly giving you more hps. Figuring my downside risk only to be the engines residual value, I sent off the ECU to have it flashed. My plans were to upgrade to a new motor this season until I came across flashing the ECU in a web search. For what is worth I figured that I would post an update to this thread. ![]()
